One of the things that makes being paged out of bed for a Search and Rescue
at 4 in the morning, slighly more bearable, is the wonderful meals that our
support staff makes for us. What they do is make them in advance, and then
freeze them in tin foil, they make chili, stew, and other hearty dishes.
@when we get a call, (which is about once every 2 weeks, so the food is
relitively fresh) they wrap the frozen tin foil packets in a dish towel, and
stick in behind the stack of 3 Motrola mobile 2-way's in the CUCV, after
about an hour there, the packets are defrosted, and after we stop at the
search site, they transfer it to under the hood somewhere, i have yet to
look, so I'm not quite sure where ;) Soon we have a hot meal that hits the
spot when we are out in the middle of nowhere.
