Over the past few years I've been able to pick up several 5 inch "F"
head wrenchs. By and large, the style goes back to the turn of the century.
I have several , made by several makers, including Iver Johnson bicycles,
Mossberg (guns) and many, different tools companies. They seem to be
commonly found in nickle plate, ocassionaly blued, or usually just too
rusty to know if they ever had any sort of finish on them. I believe that
the one mentioned by John Seidts is part of a set. The sizes on the "F"
wrenchs usually run on the odd inch sizes, while the "Crescent" style open
end adjustable wrenchs usually run on even inch sizes.
At the Tobyhanna national convention, one vendor had a Xeroxed page of a
motorcycle manual showing the 5 inch wrench as part of a motorcycle tool
kit. The new book on restoring Harley's does not mention or show this size
wrench. It was also used in the M-305 & 306 Columbia tool kits.
I have several of these wrenchs for sale as well as 9 inch (some Ford
script) and 10 inch sizes and other
tools suitable for WWII era MV's.
