I have Korean War vintage radio setups in my M38A1 and M135. That stuff =
is correct for the MB/GPW if you want it to be a later, Korean War jeep. =
It is a lot less expensive too. I am not sure of the power supply you =
would need. I have seen 12 volt power supplies, but not 6. I am curious =
as to how the World War 2 jeeps used in Korean got around this. I would =
imagine a government supplied 12 volt upgrade kit. As far as what you can =
pickup on the radios, I believe the US sets used FM, but I think it is out =
of the range of standard FM broadcasts. The Germans I think had AM. On =
the sets I have you can pick up cordless phones (amazing the conversations =
some people have), police radios and the random neighborhood baby =
monitors. I wouldn't recommend transmitting, you might get an excited =
parent thinking you were in the room, call the cops and get a knock at the =
door and the radios confiscated, and an FCC violation to boot, unless you =
have an amatuer radio license. It's always a kick to have someone looking =
at the vehicle and hear broadcasts from the radio set. Makes it look more =
impressive too.

THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED TO MY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROPER ANTENNA
LOCATION ON A GPW.

YOU HAVE ALL BEEN VERY HELPFUL - UNFORTUNATELY THE MORE I'M LEARNING THE
MORE QUESTIONS I HAVE.

SOMEONE TOLD ME THAT ONE OF THE WWII JEEP RADIOS COULD PICK-UP MODERN =
RADIO
STATIONS AM OR FM. I'M THINKING THAT SINCE I'M GOING TO GET A RADIO I =
MIGHT
AS WELL USE IT.

WHAT ABOUT SHORT WAVE? IS THERE A MODEL USED IN WWII THAT WOULD WORK?

THANKS
