Setting up Majordomo on another server is definetly THE way to go.
I say this from experience of managing several small mailing lists,
such as 300+ subscribers of the "Unimail" Unimog mailing list with no
problems. Chuck is willing to let us use his server with the domain
olive-drab.com (which by the way is great for a Mil-Veh list!! ;) and
I can offer my server as well. These are commercial servers with
redundant systems, an uninteruptable power supply, while located in the
bunker of a secure office building and tied into the backbone of the
internet -- not that we need to panic about loosing a few mail messages
for a day or so ;)

As was said, these services are FREE to us with no advertisement, which
is even better than the onelist.com FREE service *with* advertising.

I'm willing to spend some time in setting up the [MV] list at the
olive-drab.com site and work with Arthur and Chuck. If I may suggest,
having more than one person familiar with the mail program not only
shares the work (and blame), but offers backup contingencies and
manpower to keep the information flowing smoothly. Hey, we can always
set up an MV list there and offer it to the community once it gets
online, eh?

What do you say, Arthur and Chuck??

BTW - Chuck, your site is very cool and informative!
