28 volt inverters are quite popular with the solar/self-sufficient crowd. If
you don't need MIL, they probably have better, less expensive ones with a
better range of power outputs. My sisters SO just rigged up a 240 volt
system that puts out 3500 watts running on two sets of 24 volt batteries
recharged by a MIL genset.
