Hmmmmmmmm. my Mk1 Carrier (aka BREN GUN CARRIER) has listed as
standard equipment (and stowage clips for..) :
BREN Gun
Boys Anti-tank rifle
STEN gun
2" Mortor
.303 Enfields
Flare gun
Hand Grenades (!)
Smoke discharger
And in it's Vickers Carrier configuration, a Vickers Medium Machine
Gun.
Needless to say, if I dress my HMV to spec, I am going to make the
anti-gun element nervous.
I can buy into covering things up when transporting on public
highways, but, dammit! this hobby is about MILITARY vehicles!!!! We
shouldn't be ashamed to display the weaponry that is appropriate to
our vehicles.
If you can't get over the guns that go with these MILITARY vehicles,
then you should go paint your jeep red and join an off-road club.
Sheeesh! It's ironic... I can go to an Armed Forces day open house as
a reenactor and bring blanks and working weapons (including classIII
machine guns) but if I attend by way of a MV club, I can't bring a
functional weapon, much less blanks. On this point, I mean HMV owners
are discouraged to participate in any kind of firing demo, unless it's
propane.
I think in the case of my Carrier, discussion of firearms IS
appropriate to the MV list, 'cause they are in the manuals as part of
the vehicle!!
Everybody is so worried about being PC, that they seem to be
embarrased that this is a MILITARY vehicle hobby. BTW, the MVPA logo
is taken from an ARMORED DIVISION patch, not a Supply unit patch. Get
it, Armored division = TANKS...Supply unit = jeeps and M-35s...hint,
hint!

Great bumper sticker, eh?
