I've had no real problems with the DMV. The vehicle code for Historic
Vehicles CVC 5004 (f) says "...a vehicle is of historic interest if it is
collected, restored, maintained, and operated by a collector or hobbyist
PRINCIPALLY for purposes of exhibition & historic vehicle club activities"
One thing to remember is the DMV staff can be a great friend or a brick
wall, if you smile and say "How can I ...." and "What do you need from me?"
Most will help you. And finality, buy a copy of the Vehicle Code Book,
it's the best way to find a loophole or two!
