Mike........... you need the MK1234 installation kit for the Mutt. This
consists of many things (tray for radio, cabling etc) but it should also have
the corner bracket, angle bracket, "sugar scoop" bracket and re-inforcing
braces for under the rear wheel arch, plus all the bolts, washers etc. On top
of the sugar scoop bracket, you then need the MX-6707 matching unit (the
antenna base) plus the two-piece antenna, plus the ball-tip, plus the
tie-down clip and rope. (Very early radio installations used the AT-912/VRC
antenna system, comprising Antenna Base AT-719VRC plus Matching Unit
MX-2799...... this was a sort of forerunner of the MX-6707 matching unit).
Early corner brackets were made of alloy. As well as the weight difference,
the alloy brackets are easy to spot because the holes in the bracket are
circular, not rectangular.

The whole antenna setup should be easily available (don't know about the
alloy bracket, but have seen two here in England..... I gave one away last
year !!!!)..... and my setup cost me around 75 UK pounds....... so you should
be able to get one in the US for less than that.

Some Mutts had an additional mount fitted to the side (forward of the rear
wheel) and utilising bracket AB-450/GR, antenna base AB-15 along with a
three-section antenna, c/w ball-tip.......... I've seen these being used for
a CB-type radio.

I think that Tom Murray in Dover, Delaware, had side doors and curtains (in
vinyl) some while ago...... and probably still has them as most Mutters tend
to go for canvas, not vinyl. Don't know the answer to your luminous gauge
question, but I do know that the luminous lensatic compass was withdrawn in
the mid-60s due to the radiation hazard..... so I presume luminous gauges
ceased around the same time. However, as the Mutt gauges are internally
illuminated (from the instrument panel), it makes me wonder whether the Mutt
gauges were in fact luminous, like the WWII types. Just a thought.

Kind regards.......
Ken
