I have an M38A1 and a CJ2A that I sometimes tow. Usually I put both the
transmission and transfer case in neutral during towing. I was recently told
that I should put the transmission in first and the transfer case in neutral
when towing. That way with the hubs unlocked the only thing that moves is
the rear end. I can't figure it out. I'm just looking for a safe way to tow
these vehicles without causing a lot of unnecessary wear. I prefer not to
drop the drive shaft if at all possible.
