This is a good thought, but then again my head is more important than an =
engine part, at least to me. :-> I don't think I could duck fast enough =
to get out of the way if something were to come through my windshield that =
fast. A thin piece of glass may not slow it down that much. I believe =
safety for the operator should be the main concern while winching. If you =
have a blanket or something else to use as a shield, either over the =
windshield or the engine compartment, use it.

if you do that "out in the bush" and the cable breaks you may be worse off
after your carb, or other
equally important engine parts are damaged. could turn into a long walk.
i'd rather replace a broken windshield any day.
