[MV] serial # plate question

On vacation, I met a nice fellow who has several nice jeeps, including a
M-38 with hard top and heater set-up, a 1948 CJ2A, and another flatfender
with a repro body. Anyway, he had a serial plate that came off a flat
fender but he or I didn't know what the plate means. The plate is oblong
with rounded corners. The #'s and arrangement of them are:

G254SR-11922
500-904
A1
