Having followed with interest the discussion about winching, snatch
blocks, pulleys, etc. , there is one aspect that I didn't see explained
(or maybe I just missed it). If I remember my old highschool physics
correctly, as you increase the mechanical advantage,you proportionatly
decrease the speed of the pull.
i.e.: mech adv of 2 pulls takes twice as long to move the same distance
as a straight pull - mech adv of 3 three time, etc.
I also agree with the post that mentioned that there is no greater
strain on components with a higher mech adv since there are more cables
taking the load.
