I am happy to report that Dennis Deck of California has picked up his 1941
CMP C8 (8 cwt 4x2, CMP Cab 12, long box) and was last seen heading south.
Fear not dear readers - he is trailering it on a big trailer towed by a big
cube van.

I had not seen this particular C8 truck before, only photos of it as it was
found a few years ago. He has a real little treasure there though it needs a
full restoration. One can still read the original markings (including BOTH
the early and late DND numbers on the both of the doors), the tire pressures
(two versions) and the unit sign WITHOUT any sanding! The red letter on
white CAUTION - RIGHT HAND DRIVE - NO SIGNALS sign on the back was there but
is now too faded to read. The original paint is showing in most places. It
is amazingly complete! Missing only a few things. It has all of its data
plates (except for cargo box if it had one as these were made by members of
the SBMA - Steel Body Manufacturer's Association in Canada), and even the
original decals on the engine cover are quite legible. Minimal rust (except
in places in the cargo box) as it came out of dry country (Quesnel, BC near
the ghost-town museum "Barkerville'). It is VERY original. Civilian
modifications were minimal and included a heater and steps. He even has a
set of flat rods for the side curtains on one door (so he can make replicas
for the other door). The previous owner had made a wooden window which we
found lying in the back.

I went over the truck quickly with him and told him what was right/wrong
with it, identifying bits, identifying markings, then sold him a pair of
Gary Moonie's NOS CMP rifle clips (@ $25 CDN Canadian rubber coated type.
Brits tended to use leather covered), an NOS bridgeplate etc. Brian Asbury
in Ontario has lots of NOS CMP parts and some manuals and should be
receiving a shopping list soon.

Canadian MV collectors were told about this truck for over a year and no-one
here was interested in it. Unfortunately there is very little interest in
early CMPs in BC. Fear not, it has gone to a good home! Dennis says his
mother was born in Saskatchewan CANADA, and he re-enacts impressions of two
Canadian WWII units.

Now all he needs are another rim (for 9.00x13 tire), 5 tires & tubes, rad
overflow tank, bows, all the small rubber type clearance and brake lights,
convoy light and some other misc bits.
