I just got 4 new group 31 batteries for my two M1009's, and now I have a
problem with the alternator belts squealing. This screeching occurs
usually up to the first minute after starting, sometimes when idleing
there is some squeaking sounds after warmed up. The driver side
alternators are the ones that have slippage problems, I guess since
there really isnt much "wrap" around the pulley on this side. Didnt
have any of these problems before the new batteries, but previously I
had tiny cheapo batteries which I assume didnt put such a load on the
charging system. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations as
to brands of belts I should use, so far I have tried cheapie discount
belts, Gates, and Goodyear, but they all do the same thing. Does anyone
know what specific belt number these are supposed to use? I believe
that I have the right ones as they fit the pulleys right, but it couldnt
hurt to double check. Anyone else have this problem before?
Thanks,
Andy
