Back some time ago someone brought up the subject of bypassing the
compensator valve in the injection pump of an M35A2, with the promise of
better power and driveability. I'm never going to run anything but diesel
fuel and the thought of a little more power has me interested but I can't
find the thread in the archives. Any ideas?
Also, has anyone tried advancing the pump timing a little, maybe a couple of
degrees or so? I would think that because of the multifuel intentions, fuel
rate and timing would be kept very conservative to prevent any engine damage
while running on a variety of fuels, so there should be room for
improvement, no?
My manuals (old) show mostly common parts between the LDT and LDS series of
engines, so why do the LDSs make so much more power?
For those certain individuals who are about to write me, yes, I am aware of
the original intentions of the vehicle and, yes, I knew what I was getting.
It's just that I live in a fairly rural area where most of the speed limits
are 55mph, which means everyone does 70 (or more.) I'd just like to be able
to pull out onto a road and get up to speed in a reasonable amount of time,
without getting rear-ended by a John Deere.
With Great Appreciation,
Jay Keine
