Hi group....

As I said yesterday, we were entering the Northern California Concours d'
Elegance car show this date with a Ferret Mk 2/3. Competition was incredible
in all classes, with many vehicles reaching 99 pt. perfection, something the
Ferret is far from! Although it is fairly complete. We had hoped that
because that fact and it's unique characteristics, we might get some notice.

One of the promoters indicated he had contacted the local mil-veh club for 3
years running CVCC? A spokesperson for that group allegedly advised them
each and every time that nobody who owned a "military vehicle" would be
interested in a car show. Seemed like an odd thing to say as it's completely
its completely contrary to the ambitions and good of this hobby. However, I
have to admit, in all the shows we've been too this summer, we've been the
only mil-veh, except for Woodson's Bridge of course. I know there a lot of
great restored Mil-vehs around, but they sure keep a low profile.

Colin recently wrote me... "Our club, Western Command Military Vehicle
Historical Society, in British Columbia, CANADA is also having fun doing
this kind of thing. We take our MVs to vintage car shows and to Concours d'
Elegance all over the place where we have now earned special allocation of
space in one big show due to the different and interesting nature of our
displays."

This is exactly what I was offered for next year. The show promoters offered
a whole section to be set aside next year if mil-veh owners would only come
out and be part of the show! I am going to write to the MVPA HQ. and try to
get this car show listed as a quasi Mil-Veh event in order to get some area
mil-vehs to show up.

Lastly, does anyone know any members in the Oroville, California Club? I am
curious to understand why they are against being in a car show, if in fact
they really are? And I would at least like to pass along the invitation for
next year's event.

Jack Lee

PS We got a first in the truck class.
