I purchased a M1009 from Jim Henry.
I paid $7500 for my M1009. This seem to be the going retail price for a
serviced low mileage M1009.
I have now put over 1000 miles on the M1009.
I drove to Jim Henry's shop and examined the M1009 before he painted it and
the body had very little rust, mostly small dents. He originally told me
that the M1009 had under 7000 miles (this is what the Speedo indicated) but
after I arrived he said he could not guarantee the mileage. I estimate that
it probably had closer to 15000 to 20000 miles by wear on the brake pedal
rubber.
Jim Henry told me that he replaced the valve cover gaskets, changed the fuel
pump and alternators and serviced the transmission. The transmission is
leaking
a small amount of fluid now.
The truck came with almost new tires and a new spare tire. Jim Henry also
repainted it in desert sand as per my request. The paint job is about equal
to what you would expect from the military.
>From the underside, the truck looked like it had very little use. The
suspension components show little wear and the engine and components looked
to be in very good condition. Most of the exterior and interior components
show age and had damage mostly form the sun and from sitting for long
periods of time.
The engine runs great. In the morning after the glow plug light goes out,
the engine starts quickly and it restarts instantly through out the day.
The transmission is working properly.
The only problem I have had is the driver's seat bottom broke. Jim Henry
included a 30 day parts warranty with the truck and is purchasing a new seat
bottom for me.
The truck is not restored but is in good original condition with servicing
done as needed. All the repairs done appear to be consistent with a vehicle
that was allowed to sit too long.
So far I am happy with the truck. I drive it every day and will put a lot of
miles on it. I am also going to show it as a gulf war vehicle.
A also purchased an RT524 from Jim Henry and he installed it in the truck.
The radio appears to work properly and looks great in the truck.
I estimate that the M1009 gets 15mpg.
