Hello Peter & list:
I am repairing some sheetmetal on my M38 tub and also have an NOS lower
floor to put in soon. Most of the experienced guys know this, but I have
found that the spotweld cutters from Blair Equipment to be excellent; look at
http://www.hougen.com/ and choose the Blair subheading. They have local
distributors in most cities. All you need to do is centerpunch or drill a
small spot w/ a tiny drill to keep the springloaded center pin from walking.
These are like the larger Rotabroach cousins.
I use a thin 3" cutoff "whizz wheel" to cut the panel out and trim close to
weld edges so that you can get to the spotwelds w/ the cutters. You can get
these at auto paint stores, auto parts stores, etc.
Good luck,
Phil in Memphis
