Sorry. My monitor bright was down and I was unable to see the split =
window. Others on the list told me they could see the split window. And =
sure enough, there it is. I had to turn the bright up all the way to see =
it. I still think it's at least a 50s vintage. I'll have to do some =
research. I thought I knew the history of the "bug" pretty well and do =
not remember it ever being used as a mil vehicle, since its original =
intent was to be a "people's car". Small and inexpensive. I've seen =
pictures and read accounts of Hitler and others at the Wolfsburg plant and =
going for test rides in a "bug" to promote it to the public. Perhaps they =
used them on a small scale when they got in a pinch toward the end of the =
war? The body style on this one seems a little mature for WWII era, =
though. If anyone has more info or can point me elsewhere, I'm always =
open for new/better/more complete information regarding jeeps and VWs. =
Thanks.

Thank you for the picture! Unfortunately at 1182 pixels is a bit too =
large
to fit... Is there any chance to have it reduced at, let's say, 900
pixels? Do you have some more picture? The only WWII military
transformation I may see is the Notek lamp on the left fender. No =
jerrycan
on the rear fenders...? However, what is interesting to see (Renaud where
are you? Sorry, Andreas, but Renaud has a kubelwagen site while you
(chuckle!) have a... kettenkrad site...!) what is interesting to see is =
the
back of the VW: old VW had a split rear window. If the Weare one has a
split rear window it may be a good (not a perfect or accurate!)
representation of a WWII German field car. =20
Renaud, any comment?

Daniel, thank you again!
