Have used my 5KW 2 cyl. gas, on and off for the last 3 years.
If they are left standing for awhile, the carb and fuel pump go dry. Nothing
wrong here. It does takes a long time before you finally get the gas up to
the carb just by cranking.
Assuming:
the panel STOP switch is ON, this shorts out the magneto points to
STOP the machine
good points, the plugs should spark every revolution.
Yes, every revolution, either plug. (Yes, she is a 4 stroker.)
choke is working
fresh gas
It will start and fairly quickly.
At the intake, just after the carb, but before the Y, there is a plug. I
removed the plug, placing a hose there. This allows me to spray (easy on
the spray) gas or when its real cold, ether. The hose is normally capped off.
With an initially dry fuel system, it makes one hell of a difference.
I have also heard of a priming pump on some of the later models. This allows
the carburator to start with a full bowl. I have never a gen set with this
priming pump, or any mention of it in my manuals.
Has anyone seen such an animal.
An added note; if you are not going to use it for some time, run it dry.
Todays
gas goes bad very quickly.
