I have bought NOS gauges from Memphis Equipment, I have even bought complete
NOS instrument clusters there in the past (not for M38A1)...the bezel on the
gauges doesn't always match the cluster perfectly, even NOS...my guess is
various folks made the gauges, and another firm assemble the clusters with
gauges provided by these vendors. Of course the vehicle itself is an
assemblage of components made by a variety of firms, a lot being painted
different shades of the same color. The likelyhood of a military vehicle
rolling of the end of an assembly line in a uniform color throughout like
some we see at shows is remote.

I don't know too much about Jeeps, work primarily with the big stuff, but
recall from manual on my dad'd M170 something to the effect that later
production M38A1's had different instrument cluster than early ones, fenders
changed too..
