I picked up a mirror at a show once, it is rectangular, about
2"x3". It also has a metal lid to cover the whole glass surface, which
is hinged in the bottom. It has fastening bar made of two riveted
pieces of sheet metal, hinged at the base of the mirror. It appears
this bar would be mounted to a rod, about 1/2" diameter.

The vendor claimed it was a 'jeep rear view mirror'. I have never
seen such a mirror mounted in a jeep, however. Any ideas what this
is, and what it might be for?
