Didn't we just do this? :->
I believe the manual will say both neutral. That's what the manual states =
for my M38A1.
I have been told to put the trans in gear and the xfer in neutral and =
that's what I have always done. This came up awhile back and since then I =
finally found someone that could explain why you should put the transfer =
case in neutral and the transmission in gear, at least with the T90.
His reasoning is that if the xfer is in neutral all you have moving are =
the gears in the xfer and they get lubricated by the gears turning. If =
the tranny is in gear nothing moves in the tranny. If it is in neutral =
there could be some movement of the rear shaft but not the front shaft, =
since it is being held stationary by the engine, which is not running. =
For the front shaft of the T90 to be fully lubricated the front shaft =
needs to spin in order to get the oil slung around.
After pulling mine apart a couple times and observing how things go =
together and how and when they move, I agree with his reasoning. =
Regardless, I don't plan on towing mine more than 50 miles at any given =
time. I'm building a trailer for longer hauls.
