[MV] True Haloween Military Vehicle Story

On my way home from working on the Carryall yesterday evening, I stopped at
a new supermarket to pick up dinner for the family. I pulled out of the
parking lot, and about 7 or 8 blocks south of the market, when I was stopped
at a stop light, a truck jerked out into my lane, and then locked up its
brakes almost hitting me in the rear. It was dark, and I couldn't see what
it was, so I slowed down to let it pass me. It was a CUCV (still in the
Army), and I recognized the unit markings (I work for DOD, and knew the unit
commander). So I followed the guy, watching him weave all over the road,
and thinking that the guy is drunk, and haloween is a bad evening to be out
driving drunk. I didn't have the cell phone with me, and didn't pass any
cops. At one point, he locks up the wheels, and goes spinning (360 degrees)
through a traffic light intersection (red light). I thought he was heading
to a specific storage facility, but he passed it, so I started to think
perhaps it was stolen. Now it heads to a little less civilized part of
town, so I am really cautious about following. He turned down an alley, and
I drove past to go to another main street. I pulled up to a stop sign, and
waited for the vehicle to come out of the alley way. He does, and
accelerates rapidly, passes in front of me, goes about 200 yards, spins out,
and crashes into a tree. The passenger bails out, pulls the driver out of
the seat, and then takes off (he doesn't look very military). There was
another passenger he left in the CUCV. The police got there, and were
absolutely confused about the lack of a plate... until I explained the
situation ( and gave them the unit phone number, which I just happened to
remember).

So, there is one CUCV which will be coming out of service in a little while.
Totally demolished front end.
I kept watching all the "Trick or Treater's" as we passed down through the
city, and I can't remember a scarier Haloween when I was a kid....
