Here in Kentucky you do not need a cdl for a vehicle 26000 lbs or less
unless you are using it for commercial purposes and even then only if you
are hauling hazmat or towing a trailer 10001 lbs or more. When using it for
commercial purposes you would be required to have a medical card. Also, as
is the case with many military vehicles most law enforcement will only be
interested in the vehicle on a personal level, and will not be concerned
with the type of operator's license you have (it would be a moot point
anyway since you are not required to have one if the vehicle is used for
personal transportation). Once again that is here in Kentucky, but it
sounds like the case in most states except Kalifornia :)
