but:
provided we know how many listers really want to be at Beltring,
bearing in mind the list being very much US orientated,
and considering Arthurs thoughts about the whole thing, why not
consider the following:
- set up a running computer at a Mil-Veh-List stall at Beltring
(link up to the net via satellite / mobile phone ??)
- give a daily report edited by listers pesent to the list community
- receive messages from listers from around the world concerning
Beltring etc. and thereby present the List to interested visitors ??
- allow visitors to use the machine to make postings...and show them
how quick they might be able to receive a reply to a query....
- distribute calling cards with the web address of the List....
provided such a thing is set up, one would achieve the following:
- Listers present do not have to miss the List....
- Listers at home can follow the events sort of "live"
- Listers visiting Beltring have a place to find the fellow Listers
- the List is promoted and may attract further members (in Europe!!)
Funding: e.g. by UK based Internet providers and / or donations from
visitors....Nigel: how about doing it together with Mil.net ?....
Richard: what is your input concerning the technical background ?...
Arthur: we are aware the List is non-commercial, but how about
attracting more members ? from outside the US ?
Am I taking it too far ???
What do you think ?
