For the few who do still do not quite understand, I must discuss
something that is not nearly as pleasant as the prospect of running
on a new server... but circumstances force my hand. As I have said
many, many, many, many times in the past, postings must relate
directly to the private ownership of military vehicles. One of the
reasons that many of you find this mailing list so useful is that
it is clearly and strictly targeted to one thing, and one thing
only: the private ownership of military vehicles. Postings that do
not directly relate to the private ownership of military vehicles
do not belong on the list. I'm not being cruel or capricious. If I
did not enforce this rule, we would have people discussing US
solders, knitting, and the price of butter in Saudi Arabia. Mil-veh
has quite enough traffic as it is--don't burden 675+ other people
with material that has nothing to do with the topic of the list. I
have been known to stretch the definition somewhat, but clearly
this isn't a veteran's list, it isn't a patriot list, and it isn't
a poetry list, either. I am sure that we all wish our veteran's
well, but if you wish to make that statement, do it on a veteran's
list, or a patriot list, or a poetry list, or somewhere else
appropriate. This isn't a question of me being unpatriotic, nor am
I violating any First Amendment rights by restricting the topic of
discussion. Make sure that your message *directly* relates to the
private ownership of military vehicles. If it doesn't, don't post
it. If you do, you devalue the list.
Thank you for your consideration, and for your continuing support.
I very much look forward to moving to the new machine and implementing
the new e-mail, web, and indexing features.
