Not sure of the specific configuration of the '46 type, but I'd expect you
could get 9.00 x 20 all round as long as you didn't want to dual the
rears. It may be worth putting the extra effort into finding 7.50 x 20'.
Maybe someone close by has an ex-Norway GMC 6 x 6 that had the wrong
pattern of 7.50 x 20 on it and they were left with the old tyres when they
bought the right ones ?
If it is WW 2 pattern it should be pretty near indestructable, just use a
6 volt battery but watch for it not charging if someone has wrecked the
regulator by using it continually on 12 volt. When stood any length of
time they can be terrible to start, so I'd risk putting some fuel down the
carb and towing it rather than grinding it over on the starter.
What else ? well assume that the brakes will be useless, the hydrovac can
be rebuilt fairly easily with a rebuild kit, and pay particualr attention
the the parts that are specific to the Chev (ie not the same as on the GMC
6 x 6) such as the running boards and script engine side panels. If it
has a weak point it will be the engine oiling system, which is much less
efficient than the GMC 270 I had in mine.
