I can only agree to what Colin says ! When the MVPA
postings reached the zenith, some of the listers may
remember that I invited all individuals who complained
and were unhappy to contact me, so that we could discuss
the problem off list.
The aim of this was to establish what you think should be
addressed and presented to the MVPA officials for their
attention, consideration and action or response.
The next step would have been a petition supported by
the individuals who would have undersigned the letter
with an agreed wording.
And what was the response to the invitation ?
ONE SINGLE REPLY !
apart from a handfull individuals whom I contacted
directly shortly before the "official" invitation.....
It is worthwhile noting that the loudest complainers
and critics of the MVPA did not respond.
Now, I wonder why !
If you do have complaints and concerns, you should speak
out and look for people who are willing to follow and support
your cause. A common ground has to be found and forces have
to be combined. Also, it should not be forgotten that any such
action requires co-ordination and has to be reasonable. Then,
and only then it has the chance to be succsessfull. Co-operation
is always better than confrontation. Problems which need to be
solved within an association require dedicated members for
the benefit of all.
Any allegations made public without proof or outcries of anger
and frustration do not help to cure the problem and are
counter productive, may even discredit themselves !
The list is a valuable instrument for our common interest in MVs.
And so is the MVPA. So honour it and do not weaken it - make it
stronger ! The various postings concerning the MVPA to this
forum may have satisfied the senders and might have had the
effect to create awareness of potential problems and threats to
the hobby and within the MVPA. Apart from that they have only
done unneccessary harm to an outstanding organisation bearing
in mind what has been achieved over the past 25 years by so many.
The fact that I did hardly get any response or suggestions
makes me think that there is no substance to the manifold claims.
If, however, there is something wrong, but the members are
unable to deal with it in a proper way, then I feel sorry and
have to note that the association deserves nothing better then
the current BOD, that so many complained about so loud !
(no offence to the Directors intended here !)
If there is one thing our hobby involving MVs and their history
should teach us, apart from how to fasten a nut or bolt, it is that
democracy and to live peacefully together (MVPA) requires
dedicated W O R K all the way, right from the start to achive
a common goal of a strong, just and prosperous association to
look after the M E M B E R S interests.
Allegations, unconstructive criticism, stupid behaviour and
disrespectfull treatment has, as history showed and as can be
seen on TV every night, always lead to, anger and distruction,
eventually a catastrophy.
THIS, however, should be remembered by both parties, the
MVPA BOD and the MEMBERS who are complaining.
Maybe a bit of self healing will be be noted soon. New members
of the BOD will be elected and the change of the Supply Line
Editor might also give some positive signals to the association.
KEEP THEM ROLLING !
