I have a copy of The Phantom Major ( originally Who Dares, Wins). It is
a fantastic read on Major Stirling and the desert raiders. Every MV buff
should have this one on the shelf. It contains descriptions of vehicles,
tactics used, and best of all: helpful hints you can glean from between
the lines on how to drive your quarter ton over lunar landscapes for
weeks. The only bad thing about it is the cover art (my copy is a
paperback). It depicts an M38 set up for long range desert work, a
canteen hanging off the grill?!!?? And no pictures, although I've seen
many photos of the SAS jeeps and trucks in other publications.
