A little clarification if I may:

Airliners use an air cycle machine which draws air from the engine
compressor section, cools it through an air to air heat exchanger, then
through an orifice to lower the pressure which causes it to cool even
further. No refrigerant is used.

An air-cooled aircraft piston engine, however, uses the system you describe
with an engine driven compressor and freon similar to that of an automobile.
The fan you describe is the big one at the front of the engine!

referring to the condenser portion of an A/C system, all that is need is an
electric fan to draw the air through. How do you think airliners do it? Jet
engines aren't watercooled.
