YES, the M100 trailer is correct for the M38A1.
Can find one is through MVPA Supply Line, or Military Vehicles magazine, and
especially through word of mouth from local collectors. Price somewhere in
the $500-$900 range.
M100CDN trailers are perhaps a little easier to find through surplus dealers
as they were relased more recently (mid-1980s). Some US dealers bought some.
Differences between US M100 and M100 CDN include:
* Data plates are different. Canadian one large data plate, Motor Coach
industries was maker. About 1,000 made.
* M100CDN trailer also differed by having convoy light, plate hanging down
under rear of trailer to light to shine on
* M100CDN had a fixed cable to plug into jeep (US one was detachable, thus
the stowage box on the front).
* Canadian made tires (same 7.00x16 size and style as US M100's tires).
By the way, the little shallow box insid the front wall of the trailer is
for the manual and had a hinged top cover (often missing).
Canada used a few M100 (US mfg.) and I found the first one issued (CFR
70000) which was in use by 12 Service Bn in Richmond, BC. When it sold
surplus, Ian Newby bought it. Interestingly that one had NO serial number
ever stamped on it, and I confirmed this from the DND records which I was
able to access when it was still on issue.
