Based on your suggestion, I looked on the McMaster-Carr web page
(www.mcmaster.com), and found High Temperature Silicone Rubber Hook-Up
Wire (http://www.mcmaster.com/cgi/loadpage.cgi?pagenum=638). I don't
think it has the fiberglass jacket like the wire you described, but
the description sounds a lot like the wire in late-model MVs like my
HMMWV. Unfortunately, it ain't cheap... $66/100 ft in 14 ga, and
$88/100 ft in 12 ga.

I want to replace the AC wiring harness in the van body on my 2.5-ton
6x6 shop van; it has some problems, and I want to completely renovate
the AC stuff for safety. There's a lot of wire in that harness... I
might need to fall back to my backup plan of using oil and water
resistant stranded THHW wire from Home Depot. :-/
