Replace the battery (naturally) negative to ground
Replace all the bulbs with 12 volt ones.
Buy a gauge voltage REGULATOR (not dropping resistor) from JC Whitney
~$16.00) and install on the hot lead to the gas gauge. You need a ground
connection too for this device as it is a regulator.
Install 70's GM alternator. Connect only the big terminal from the
Alternator to the BAT wire on the voltage regulator, all leads
disconnected from the regulator.
Wire the main vehicle feed to the battery (+) directly instead of to the
starter.
Install an Ignition resistor in series with the wire from the key switch to
the coil. If the auto parts store cannot figure this out, tell them you have
a 1956 Chevy truck.
