Vacuum systems are essentially self sealing (assuming the hoses aren't dried
out or cracked). Vacuum is more easily worked with in almost every respect
than pressure.

Wiper effectiveness in the presence of a leak depends on the size of the
hole and the pump capacity, just like with a positive pressure system.

If you are still concerned, you could put an air pump on your MUTT and feed
regulated positive pressure into the outlet port of your wipers...

On a vacuum system, any leaks at all reduce the effectiveness of the wipers
and they are bad enough as it is. If it is leaking, like anywhere, the
there is no vacuum, right?

"Nature abhors a vacuum" Thus air will be trying to get into that system
at every point, thus reducing the effectiveness partially, if not
completely. There is no pressure inside, therefore ambient air pressure (1
bar/14 PSI will be doing it's level best to get in.
