Dick, I have a mule with a set of 7.50 x 10 Forklift tires. They pull very
good and with 12 ply they are very hard to puncture, and they look good. The
down side is they ride rough, very rough. Like je mentioned, there are ATV
tires in 10 in., but I wouldn't try to haul any heavy loads. With the 12
ply forklift tires, I've exceeded the payload rating several times. If I
were going to make any replacement wheels I would go with a 12 in. wheel,
the width could go anywhere between 8 to 12. The wheel used in upgrade kit
by the U.S.Army is 12 x 12. The same wheel can be found on many trenching
machines as well as other small equipment. The Case 360 trencher has the
same wheel, except the center hole is slightly smaller. The bolt pattern is
the same (51/2 in. bolt circle). Some where there is a junk yard where
trenchers go to die. I believe you could find wheels at such a place for a
lot less than $450 a set.
Tires come in endless styles ,widths, and load ratings in 12 in. I
have considered making me some wheels that will take a high profile tractor
type tire( like you would find on some small 4wd tractors), something like a
8 x12. Good luck, and let know what you find out .
