Learned Listers,
Has anyone evr come across this?
I simply changed my points ignition distributor for a CDI replacement that
I had sitting around and went, with a timing light, to set her up:
The engine started fairly well and I shone the timing light on the pointer
mark. To my surprise, the mark on the pulley wheel was rock steady at just
over an inch before the pointer in a simple view. Expressed as a clock
face, viewed from the front of the vehicle, the pointer sits at 5 minutes
to the hour and the pulley mark is sitting at just before 10 minutes to the
hour.
The engine should not be running, eh? But it is. The pulley mark moves
steadily back to 20 minutes to the hour as revs increase. The engine is
not running that well at the increased revs.
Can anyone shed any light on this odd phenomenon?
TIA
Gavin
