The CUCV is unique, in that it uses two similarly sized 12 volt alternators to
keep each of its 12 volt batteries charged. With that said, yes you can run
12V toys
off the one battery, as long as the engine is running and keeping the
charge up.
No fear of over-charging the hi side 12 volt because its alternator sees a
smaller load.
Problem comes if you run the lower battery to far down, then try to start.
On a related issue, had a friend run his lower 12 V battery down on his M38
with a cell phone. It didn't draw much, but he didn't use the M38 very much
either.
The lower battery went flat and starting was fun.
