Wife stayed at her job and I'm leaving mine!
Wanted to run this by the list:
1) Found "Ball Of Fire" 40th Inf. Div. in upside-
down semi-circle.
2)Think that "main" insignia is 185th Inf. Reg.
(Did you know that you can request copies of
insignias, coat-of-arms, etc. from the Institute of
Heraldry?)
3) Here's the controversial part. I think I see
"Crossed Retorts" the symbol for CW "Chemical
Warfare". This would explain much! Low miles
(7,000) crazy markings everywhere (stripes, logos, etc) VERY,VERY
unusual CONVERSION that NO ONE can positively ID.
My problem with the insignia ID to this point
is that NOTHING matches what I have. If there
was a 185th Chem. Co. THAT might explain
"Crossed Retorts" on a 185th insignia.
4) Largest cabinet in truck has lots of welded-on hooks to hang-up masks
and suits?
5) Perhaps truck carried CW or perhaps it carried anti-measures whatever
those were.
6)AACA (Antique Automobile Club of America)
suggested CNG "Contact Truck" that would go
out and pickup or repair broken CNG vehcles.
7) Will "TB766" turn out to be a CW related
Tech. Bulletin? I've got NARA looking..
8) Mr. Doyle will be visiting his hometown of
Walnut Ridge, ARK this weekend and maybe he can dig up something for me!
Thanks, Don Kenyon
