I say Amen to that! I'm sure that most of the things in the letter about
Hanoi Jane are exaggerations, but I do clearly remember that epic newsphoto
of her sitting in the saddle of an NVA anti-aircraft gun, NVA helmet on her
head, and a caption which made me believe she would have shot the thing at
American aircraft. She apologized to the enemy for the actions of our
aviators, and cast a shadow on all of Hollywood that day, in my eyes. This,
for me, had the same degree of impact as the famed Iwo Jima shot of the guys
putting up the flag on Suribachi. I'll never forget her act, and I have
boycotted her efforts in the theater ever since. With the amount of
anti-American sentiment I'm hearing these days, Jane should be a heroine in
several foreign countries. In fact, I think that's where she belongs. In the
US, she was never anything more than an unpleasant, confused tart with a rich
daddy and eccentric husband. My 2 cents.

When Euro-Disney opened, the ceremony was accompanied by a huge fireworks
display, and a convoy of brightly decorated jeeps. The day after, France
surrendered.
