I bought a '54 M-37 in 1989 that had never been civilianized. I managed to
get it started only to hear a loud knock at anything above an idle.
I decided to pull the motor and do a full rebuild (having NEVER done a
rebuild before)
I had an experiencefriend coach me through it. As we were pulling the
cylanders, he kept exclaiming how good a condition this motor was in......I
wouldn't even need to hone the cylanders.
Then we came to the No 6 piston. We pulled it only to find it never had a rod
bearing installed.
Had to have the crank redone.
Oh well....
Cheers
