The local rock quarry uses 3000 lbs per yard for everything from crushed rock
to sand as an estimate. Your math looks correct. That's why I bought a 5 ton
dump instead of a 2 1/2 tonner. Rock and sand is very heavy stuff! I can haul
10 tons of rock and sand pretty easily with my M51 and then you get to the
site, dump it on the ground, spread it and say, where did it go? If I could
have bought a tri-axle for a $1000 more I would have. Unfortunately tri-axle
Mil dumps are virtually non-existent.
