Either Muriatic( weak Hydrochloric acid) or virgin Battery Acid (10 percent
Sulfuric acid solution) in a 5 gallon Home Depot type closeable plastic
bucket (available in the paint dept.) should strip the cadmium plating off
the hardware. A stainless steel carburetor basket is handy for dipping bolts
while plastic lawn trimmer line works for holding nuts and washers and other
parts with holes. Dip time and agitation are user determined and are
dependent on strength ( # of parts run through bucket) and temp of solution
and observed results. Through rinsing in running water and immediate
dipping in a pot of boiling water as final rinse, followed by fast air dry
(hair dryer or fan ) followed by priming or storage in zip locs with
desiccant pouches to stop immediate formation of surface rust , should put
you in good shape.
Chemical Nazi's... take a break on the warnings...if ya don't feel
comfortable playing with strange sounding chemicals and can't read basic
warning labels on handling procedures, have troubles keeping your fingers
out of bodily orifices while working on things and have no common sense,
then sell the MV's and take up needle point. Oppps, sharp points...danger!
And now the usual disclaimers: The above comments do not represent the
