Hey Aaron,
There is a manual impact tool available that has been helpful with these
situations for me. It's about 4" long, 6 sided and has a 3/8" square
drive for sockets. You can buy a 3/8" drive socket with a screwdriver
blade.
By holding the tool with one hand and applying a twisting motion in the
direction you need to loosen the offending part, strike the tool with a
16 to 20 oz. hammer. Persistance will pay-off.
