Hi everyone,
Another cause of "brake pedal fade" is expansion of the brake drums due
to intense heat. If the shoes are not properly adjusted to correct
clearance the drums can expand beyond the stroke distance of the wheel
cylinder, therefore reducing contact force applied to the friction
surface of the shoe and drum.
Found this info during a search for principles of air brakes. Hope it
