Flames aren't needed. :}
I too have been around ( 8 years own PC/Networking company, 4 years admin
here ). Recent virus's are reported ( By Symantec, INFOWeek, PCMag, etc )
to take an email address from the infected PC and make it look like it came
from THAT person instead of from the infected PC. It IS possible for a
virus to currently come looking like it came from someone it did not come
from. If you have an email client which remembers all single email
address's you have sent to like Eudora then many single time email
recipients are at risk.
but then, Outlook and Outlook Express are the only ones which automatically
pass virus's on. ( if you are silly enough to open an attachment you
weren't expecting ) But that's a flame/holy war for a pro/anti Microsoft
forum, not here.
BTW: while near topic ( MV ) does anybody remember the book 1984?
Interesting article on what Microsoft et al are doing right now about
digital rights. VERY big for them. Possible result? What if congress or
some whacko court decide that having information about military equipment
is a danger to America? In 10 years, they very well may be able to reach
out and delete any files they don't like from your PC without your ok.
If you have any worries over such a thing please take a look :
