On TM 9-2320-289-20 figure 9 there's a charging circuit diagram depicting
the major components, it clearly identify that the left alternator(referred
as a generator on the diagram) charges the front battery and the right one
charges both, there's no doubt both alts are 12V it is just that 12vdc
accesories are fed from the front battery so it needs a dedicated alternator
to keep it at full charge, so it says on the TM.
Disclaimer: Having found errors in other TM's, I'm not betting the farm on
it, Just relaying the info.
