Hi All:

Sorry for the off topic post, but in the whimsical spirit of the season, I
forward this:

Happy holidays to all

This is very interesting for children or the child in you. It also
teaches a child a little about geography.

This year, NORAD will once again be tracking Santa
all over the globe on Christmas Eve.

NORAD, short for North American Aerospace Defense
Command, is the bi-national military organization of
Canada and the United States. It is responsible for the
aerospace defense of the two countries.

It's also taken on the responsibility for tracking
Santa for about half a century. About 5 years ago NORAD,
with the help of other sponsors, moved the tracking to
the Web. Visit http://www.noradsanta.org. The site is
in English, Japanese, French, Spanish, Italian and
Brazilian Portuguese.

Early in the morning on December 24th, NORAD will post
a map of the world and will update it all night long.
Click on the map and you'll find SantaCam videos of
Santa's journey.

The Santa tracking tradition started in 1955 by accident
after a local newspaper ran an ad for a Department Store
Santa Hotline. But the phone number was wrong: it went
to what was then the Continental Air Defense Command.
As the calls from children came in, the senior officer
on duty at the time said he was helping Santa. He
assured the children that he and his staff could see
Santa on the Radar screens heading south from the North
Pole.

Your children can also track Santa on a toll-free hotline
as well as the Website. On Christmas Eve, call 877-Hi-NORAD
(877-446-6723).
