Re: [MV] M35 lockout hubs installed - fuel savings?

Bjorn...I would think (as a machinist) that you would have to anneal the
axle and remachine it to the new spline configuration and then heat
treat it again for lockouts. Then...what would control the end thrust on
this axle? Hmmm! Isn't re-engineering fun? If when designing these
things originally...the engineers had our input from here on this
board...wonder what the deuces would look like today? Good idea...for
the trucks to be designed by the guys who drove 'em, rode in 'em and
worked on 'em. You know...government by the people...for the people.
Cushions on troop seats for your hemis...drink holders on dash...move
that rifle mount somewhere else. Just talked to a fellow who drove one
in the Korean war (recently)and he said that they used to put a beer
down in the gas tank to cool it...(probably on a string or wire) and was
retrieving one in a convoy one day...and a Kernel jumped out of a jeep a
couple of vehicles back. Is that beer you got there? Could you spare
one? Cushhhh...there you go sir! (War is hell!) What would you change
on 'em? Fred Martin
