Hello Fred,
The so called side gears will spin in the differential, with or without an
axle installed, the loading will not be even, the way I see it, and that may
not be a good thing for the bearings in the long run. Then it would make
sense to remove both drive axles to even out the load.
About my name, the "B" is not silent (perhaps I should be, more often then
not), it is an old Swedish name. Remember the tennis player, Bjorn Borg?
